The Committees of Kiwiburn Incorporated are the wheels of do-ocracy in motion year round to make the event happen. The Ex-com is the main organising\overseeing committee, and the sub-committees focus on particular areas. Skills are not necessarily needed in most of these committees. What is needed is an ability to step up and throw some time & enthusiasm to making things happen. Training is not really given in these committees. You will be thrown into the mix and hopefully find your way after not too long with help along the way, of course.

The Media Subcommittee always welcomes people who want to help out. If you have skills in public relations, website design, graphic design, journalism, or just an interest to help out, send us an email.

MISSION STATEMENT

  • Help burners to communicate with burners - what's going on, who needs help and how to join in;
  • Help veteran burners to communicate with new burners - what it is, what to expect, how to prepare;
  • Be the information portal for media organisations in the default world.

How We’ll Achieve These Goals:

  • Update and maintain the Kiwiburn website
  • Keep the newsletter The Electric Fence Post (EFP) alive, current, relevant and useful
  • Develop the themed artwork each year
  • Develop a downloadable media info kit
  • Upload KB information to event websites each year
  • Develop story ideas and media releases for submitting to publications and other media to raise awareness of KB
  • Develop an on-paddock KB blog
  • Create a paddock census

Security Sub-Committee

Contact:security@kiwiburn.com

The Security Sub-committee deals with internal and external security issues. We invite anyone with experience, interest or enthusiasm in managing security to join us. We currently work with a hired security company to deal with external security issues and have volunteers to deal with internal security issues.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Security Sub-committee is concerned with on-site security issues both external and internal. We aim to keep Kiwiburn and its participants in a safe environment.

How we achieve these goals:

  • Work with Senjo Security.
  • Work with local Police and ensure that identified troublemakers cannot buy tickets or attend the event
  • Organise a loose network of people that can be eyes and ears on site, in a way that does not tax volunteers
  • Design issue reporting / escalation structure that integrates all security functions: Senjo, Gate, EEP (eye ear people), Wranglers, Mudfop/site manager
  • Consider, design and implement radio protocol
  • Develop requirements/guidelines/scope of practice for all roles involved in security operation
  • Fill rosters (Gate and Mudfop) and execute the plan on paddock, including training

Art Grants Sub Committee

Contact:artgrants@kiwiburn.com

The Art Grant Committee exists to promote and support art at Kiwiburn. Our vision is to increase the quantity of art at the festival while maintaining the quality, by encouraging artists to apply for funding to help realise their vision, and by supporting artists on the paddock with practical help. The AGC takes applications for funding, processes them and distributes grant money, as well as providing a presence on the paddock in the form of the Artery, where artists can gather and seek support for the creation of their art.
